Barb Thompson

 

Barbara started her career in her hometown of Petaluma, in the beautiful wine country of Northern California. After ten years of working behind the chair, she moved her work to San Francisco. She was featured in 7x7 Magazine as one of San Francisco's top colorists. Barb has extensive training in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Miami, and New York along with experience as an Educator for R+Co. Barb is a specialist in transformation, from cutting to coloring. She can do it all. Since 2017, Barb has owned and operated her own salon The Pine in Northern California.

Currently, Barb has made the move to Los Angeles. Following years of commuting, she wanted to make it official and follow her passions for freelance hairdressing. Now, she will be popping up at The Pine quarterly.

For the past year and a half, Barb has been assisting Celebrity Stylist, Mara Roszak + Jenny Cho, for multiple award seasons, music videos, and photoshoots. She has worked with editorial stylist and educator James Pecis, runway stylist Kien Hoang at New York Fashion Week, and educator/visionary Howard McLaren. The latter paid a visit to The Pine in 2018, teaching a cutting seminar and sharing his insights. 

Barbara’s work was published in Vogue for coloring Juno Temple’s wig pink for Ted Lasso Premiere with Hairstyling on Juno by Mara Roszak, the 2021 Collector’s Issue of Vogue Magazine, 2020 Winter issue of New Beauty Magazine and Oprah Magazine! Hair mecca Mane Addicts has featured Barb’s razor cutting work as well as an Instagram takeover, and beauty podcast Fat Mascara considers Barb one of their go-to hair expert.
